The selection of UT probe for high-frequency welded tube

Abstract The article is discussed the problem that selection of the crystal size in the ultrasonic probe for ultrasonic-shear-wave testing to the high-frequency welds of stell tube by the method of geometrical construction and from the acoustic principle.It is indicated that the bigger crystal size will generate surface-wave and other wave-mode to interference on the workpiece when the tube diameter is smaller,so that influence the correct identification for the weld's defects during the pure shear-wave testing.
